We all know that for Samsung, the Galaxy S8 will really be the make it or break it smartphone. The Note 7 fiasco was so scarring for Samsung, that now there is too much hopes and bets placed on its 2017. And now with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 inching closer, not only is the excitement boiling up, the stew of a myriad of rumors is filling up too. While after months of speculation, we know quite a lot about the smartphone, which is mostly the hardware and software, the design of the smartphone mostly has still been a question mark. However, a recent new leak claims to give the first ever look of the Galaxy S8 smartphone. Spotted by /Leaks on Weibo, the alleged first photo of the Galaxy S8 shows an almost no-bezel handset with curved edges. The home button is gone, and we can t see any physical button on the face of the device. The top surface of the smartphone is almost entirely display with a little portion on the top taken over by an earpiece, a front camera and some sensors. On the lower end of the screen, is a little space taken by Samsung s logo. The leaked image shows the handset in a lustrous gold color. Now, be sure to take this image with a pinch of salt, because for all we know, this could be a neat work of some editing. If you look closely, the smartphone does look awfully lot like the Galaxy S7 edge. Although if you rethink that, the design has long been expected to be mostly on the lines of Galaxy S7 edge itself. Nonetheless, nothing can really be said about this render yet, although it does get a few details quite to the point. For example, GSMArena recently reported that Samsung had begun testing two variants of the S8 smartphone. It was reported that the two variants, which are the S8 and the S8 Plus, presumably were being tested in China, and carry software build numbers G9500ZCU0APLF and G9550ZCU0APLF. Also, the leaked image also falls in line with the rumor that Samsung is looking to do away with the hardware navigation buttons and replace them with on screen ones. Citing sources, David Ruddock from Android Authority mentioned that the two capacitive buttons (for app switcher and back) and the physical home button that also doubles as a fingerprint sensor will not be a part of the Galaxy S8. Making a notable departure in the UX, the on-screen navigation will allow Samsung to have a tiny bottom bezel on the Galaxy S8, which will also differentiate itself from the previous Samsung smartphones. These soft keys will also be customizable and reconfigurable. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8 could include Beast Mode feature, trademark filing reveals
Additionally, the design of the Galaxy S8 is also believed to be borrowing a bit from the infamous Note 7. If latest rumors are to be believed, the Galaxy S8 could come with Samsung s proprietary S Pen as an external accessory.
