The Korean teaser has been shared by TechDroider via Twitter and the 15-second clip features a guy walking towards his room s door which opens to space, complete with a floating astronaut and Saturn in the vicinity. The little asteroids and space matter flying back could be indicative of Samsung offering the VR headset or perhaps even the inclusion of some AR elements into the smartphone that would not require a dedicated headset. Apple is also rumored to be working on AR technology for its iPhone offering an immersive experience to users without the need for a specialized hardware. The Samsung teaser ends with the number 8 and Samsung s invite details of the Unpacked event scheduled for March 30, in coordination with the US date of March 29.
Samsung s upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been detailed in series of leaks, revealing every bit of the anticipated flagship smartphones. To begin with, this year Samsung has increased the display sizes of both the models, which also means a slight increase in the overall pricing. Other than using Qualcomm s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC, these will also be Samsung s first set of smartphones to make use of the company s in-house voice assistant called Bixby. Additionally, there is also a new Violet color option to choose from. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ promotional material, violet color variant leaked
The Galaxy S8 lineup is poised to help Samsung reel out of the global embarrassment brought on by the Note 7 fiasco and hence, the company is positing the flagship smartphones in a manner that it is now being dubbed as the most closely watched product launch event in years .
Talking about the Galaxy S8; it will feature a 5.8-inch display while the larger Galaxy S8+ will boast a 6.2-inch display. Many believe that the reason for increasing the display size of the new smartphones is an attempt by Samsung to bring the ill-fate Galaxy Note 7-like features to consumers who have been disheartened by the combustion issues with the phablet device. The fingerprint sensor has also been repositioned to the back.
Powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset, the smartphones are likely to house up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The newest processor promises 27 percent more performance with 40 percent less power consumption. Surprisingly, there is nothing major planned by Samsung for the camera capabilities of the Galaxy S8. It is expected to house a 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear camera with LED flash along with an 8-megapixel auto-focus selfie camera. Despite being Type-C smartphones, the Galaxy S8 lineup will retain the regular 3.5mm headphone jack.
