The two versions differ in terms of size, one with 5.1-inch and another with 5.5-inch display, reports TheGuardian. The report further talks about implementation of an infinity display , which basically refers to ultra slim bezels on the Galaxy S8 with a dual-edge display similar to the Galaxy S7 edge and little space on top and bottom dedicated to non-display part. According to the publication s sources, there was so little room that Samsung had to skip putting the brand name on the front of the device. Contrary to previous rumors, Samsung will be placing the fingerprint scanner on the back. Earlier, it was said that the Galaxy S8 will be integrating fingerprint scanner within the display, similar to what the iPhone 8 is being rumored to have. The publication, citing sources, also confirms the existence of the iris scanning biometric technology on the Galaxy S8. The technology launched with the Galaxy Note 7 allowed users to unlock their smartphones by scanning their eyes. The scanner could also be used to authenticate purchases, just like one does with the fingerprint scanners nowadays.
Another important bit that the publication reveals a slew of new accessory with the Galaxy S8. There will also be a new dock that will turn the Galaxy S8 into an Android-based desktop, allowing one to connect the phone to a monitor and keyboard. The dock will be accompanied by other peripherals called DeX and is believed to be inspired from Microsoft s Continuum, which also serves the same purpose. The report further says that the device will feature 64GB of built-in storage, along with support for expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD. The smartphone is expected to come with USB-C and a new version of Samsung s Gear VR headset and Gear 360 camera. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8 rumor roundup
