Samsung s Galaxy S8 smartphone has been stripped naked even before its official unveiling. We have already been exposed to its live images, specifications and features thanks to numerous renders and leaked information. Rumors arrived from different reports and sources, but all complementing each other. While we do have a fair idea of what Samsung has in store for us with the Galaxy S8, we have now come across more credible information about its official launch timeframe. Although nothing new, a WSJ report confirms that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S8 late next month, as rumored before, and it will take place at an event in New York. Samsung had already confirmed that it would not be launching the Galaxy S8 at the MWC 2017 event. This led to speculations that the Galaxy S8 will launch on March 29. It had also been said that the smartphone would go on sale about a month later on April 21. It is now confirmed that Samsung would in fact unveil the Galaxy S8 in late March, with bets on March 29, and as WSJ reports, It will be Samsung s most closely watched product launch in years.
In a major design change, Samsung could ditch the Home button and instead place the fingerprint sensor on the rear end of the smartphone. Fingerprint sensors on the back of smartphones are commonly seen placed below the camera lens. But Samsung would be placing it beside the camera lens, if rumors do turn out to be true. WSJ however reports that, there could still be changes with the features before the smartphone is available for sale. WSJ further confirms that Samsung would be launching the Galaxy S8 in two size variants which would both feature a curved-screen display. In addition to this, Samsung would also retain the 3.5mm audio jack unlike the current trend being followed these days. The report also states that Samsung is expecting the Galaxy S8 to bring the South-Korean company out of its Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. With the new features being implemented in the Galaxy S8, Samsung hopes that it will be enough to convince consumers to purchase the smartphone.
Speaking about its new features, the most highlighted one is the introduction of the AI-based virtual assistant Bixby, which is set to take on Apple s Siri and Google s Assistant. Bixby is said to be able to conduct virtual searches like recognizing text, images and identify objects with the camera pointed at them. Bixby will also be integrated into another upcoming feature called Samsung Pay Mini which will allow users to make payments through the virtual assistant directly. The two different display sizes of the Galaxy S8 are expected to be 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch. The larger display size variant could be called the Galaxy S8 Plus. Under its hood, Samsung could use in-house Exynos 8895 processor or Qualcomm s latest 835 processor for the Galaxy S8. In terms of RAM and storage, the Galaxy S8 could come with 4G of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage for the lower variant. While the Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
In the photography department, the Galaxy S8 could sport a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture. Up front, the smartphone could house an 8-megapixel selfie camera which could feature auto-focus and iris scanner as well. For power, the Galaxy S8 could use a 3,250mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S8 Plus would use a bigger 3,750mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy S8 will have USB Type-C port. Samsung Galaxy S8 price
There have been reports suggesting a price tag for the Galaxy S8, and with expectations of it being costlier that the Galaxy S7. The 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 variant is expected to be priced around 799 (Rs 58,100 approximately), and the 6.2-inch variant will come with price tag of 899 (Rs 65,400 approximately).
