If all the rumors are to be believed, we won t have to wait a long time to get our first glimpse at Samsung s next flagship smartphones. Recent reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are both likely to make a cameo at CES 2018 next month. In the meantime, a host of renders have leaked detailing what the upcoming devices could look like. Looking at the renders shared by Samsungmobile.News, the overall design language is similar to what we saw on this year s Samsung smartphones. But what is quite evident is the increased screen-to-body ratio, and the relocated fingerprint sensor. In line with previous rumors, Samsung is planning on including the Infinity Display on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, but with a screen-to-body ratio of nearly 90 percent. A significant focus seems to be on reducing the top and bottom bezels on the phone. Also Read - Good news for iPhone loves! Apple beats Xiaomi to regain second position in global smartphone market
The placement of the fingerprint sensor brings with it somewhat of a bittersweet feeling. It is good to see that the sensor has been moved to the bottom of the camera module, where it will no doubt be easier to reach without smudging the camera lenses. But this also means that Samsung has yet again been unable to pull off the under-screen fingerprint sensor. After Synaptics Clear ID announcement yesterday, a lot of us were hoping that Samsung would be one of the partner OEMs.
The leaked renders also hint at the color options that will be available with the Galaxy S9 duo. These include the Midnight Black, Silver Titanium, Ocean Blue, and Maple Gold. In line with previous leaks, there is also a new color variant called Orchid Gray, which is borderline purple.
Based on what we have come across so far, the Galaxy S9 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm s Snapdragon 845 SoC, the next-gen Exynos 9810 chipset, 4GB and 6GB of RAM, and 64GB and 128GB storage options. Samsung is also likely to introduce a much-improved iris scanner on the Galaxy S9 duo.
