Samsung-Galaxy-S9 Leak

Samsung’s flagship smartphones for this year, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, have hit the rumor mills on multiple occasions in the past. It is widely believed that Samsung will unveil these smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018). And now, the latest addition to its share of leaks is the FCC listing, suggesting the launch is around the corner.

The FCC lists two new Samsung smartphones with model numbers SM-G960U (Galaxy S9)and SM-965U (Galaxy S9+), which fall in line last year’s Galaxy S8 (model number SM-G950U) and Galaxy S8+ smartphones (SM-G955U). The US variants of both the versions have appeared on the website with their respective model numbers. The listing does not detail any hardware specifications, but indicates that the models will support most cellular bands in the US, as those are mentioned with authorization letters, LTE tests, and other mandatory reports from FCC.

Both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have been leaked in the past, with most rumors pointing towards the inclusion of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC for the US market and its Exynos equivalent for other markets, including India. One of the interesting speculations indicates that the high-end Galaxy S9+ model could come in a variant with as much as 512GB of default storage.

Last week, the alleged retail box of Galaxy S9 surfaced online revealing some specifications of the smartphone. Based on the leak, the Galaxy S8 successor is expected to pack a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The camera on the Galaxy S9 is also expected to be among the highlights. The leaks suggest that the smartphone will feature a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which will be able to switch from f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture. It will further support slow-motion recording. Up front, there could be an 8-megapixel auto-focus camera.
