Samsung’s next line of flagship smartphones, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, have been regularly doing the rounds of the rumor mill. Recently, an accessory maker conceptualized how the upcoming smartphones will look like through renders. Now, the latest rumor suggests that as opposed to the renders, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will have an even higher screen-to-body ratio. In the case renders of the smartphones, the top and bottom bezels are shown present albeit narrower than the current Galaxy S8+. However, as SamMobile reports, the bezels will be narrower than what it portrayed in the renders with screen-to-body ratio as high as 90 percent. With this size, the Galaxy S9 duo will have nearly six percent higher screen-to-body ratio than the Galaxy S8+. While the exact screen-to-body ratio of the current Samsung Galaxy S8 duo is unknown, it is estimated that the Galaxy S8+ has a ratio of somewhere close to 84 percent, which is higher than even the Apple iPhone X which has been recorded to have a ratio of 82 percent.
Now, if the latest rumor is anything to go by then Samsung fans might be in for a truly bezel-less Galaxy S9 lineup. As per the report, not only will there be presence of the edge-to-edge Infinity Display, the bottom chin will be next to non-existent on the Galaxy S9 while the top bezel will be narrower than the Galaxy S8’s bottom bezel. Having said that, it is unclear if the higher screen-to-body ratio will be present on both the Galaxy S9 and the S9+. As the company is yet to confirm any of such features, it is advisable to treat this information with the proverbial pinch of salt.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy S9+ is likely to offer 6GB of RAM and feature a dual-camera setup at the back, similar to the Note 8. The 3.5mm headphone jack is also likely to remain present on the phone. The upcoming phones are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC or its Exynos counterpart.
Trusted leakster Evan Blass recently reported that Samsung is working on unveiling the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at the CES 2018 in Las Vegas, which is scheduled take place in January. The teaser event will be followed by a dedicated Galaxy Unpacked event in March, for an official launch.
