After launching two flagship devices this year Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8 Samsung is reportedly looking at its premium inventory for 2018. According to reports emerging out of South Korea, Samsung is reportedly working on the Galaxy S9 flagship smartphone. It’s expected to be official as early as January 2018. Considering that Samsung’s usual schedule of Galaxy S series flagship smartphone release happens in March, the Galaxy S9 seems to arrive a little earlier. According to a report in The Investor, Samsung will start imports of OLED panels for the upcoming flagship smartphone from the Samsung Display unit in November 2017. This is believed to be a two months lead as compared to the OLED display shipment in January 2017 for the Galaxy S8 that was launched in March this year. Samsung Galaxy S8 was then launched globally a month later on April 21. As per Galaxy S9 rumors, the smartphone could hit global markets in February 2018. Samsung has reportedly put the purported Galaxy S9 under the project labeled as “Star”. With the company’s hat already in the twin-camera smartphone space, thanks to Galaxy Note 8, the upcoming S series smartphone can be expected to sport dual-camera system. If indeed, the Galaxy S9 will be first Galaxy S series smartphone to come out of the South Korean giant’s stable. However, the Galaxy S9 is said to miss the integrated in-display finger print scanner as the company will not be able to develop the technology in time. Well, such an early piece of prediction dictates to be taken with a grain of salt. As per previous reports, the Galaxy S9 is said to be powered by the yet-to-be-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, while the Infinity Display is likely to continue on the Galaxy S8 successor as well. The premium smartphone is further speculated to come with advanced screen coating to actively repel water. A recent report by XDA Developers suggest that the Galaxy S9 will come with 4GB RAM, Android 8.0 Oreo.
