According to ETNews, both LG and Huawei will postpone the announcements to avoid the clashing with the Galaxy S9-duo. Huawei Korea officials said, “The flagship smartphone public schedule is not something that can be confirmed in Korea.” The company is expected to conduct a separate launch event for the handset either in late March or early April. From what we know so far, the Huawei P20 is likely to follow 2017-flagship smartphone trend and come with a dual-rear camera setup an RGB lens and a monochrome lens. Front camera resolution is unknown at the moment. The smartphone could also feature a 4,000mAh battery. However, this doesn’t mean that the company won’t make an appearance at the event. The company may instead showcase other products from its portfolio.
Coming to LG, we recently learned that the company won t be launching the G7 anytime soon. In fact, the company has gone back to the drawing board to design the smartphone from scratch. LG executive also mentioned at CES 2018 that the company will not follow the trend like its rivals to launch a flagship every year. It will only launch a flagship smartphone when needed, and the company will continue releasing upgraded versions of its existing smartphones.
At MWC 2018, the company might instead launch a new version of the V30. The new enhanced smartphone is said to come with “improved AI features” and will possibly be called “V30+. LG has already launched a V30 Raspberry Rose variant at CES 2018. The company also recently filed trademark – Icon for smartphones and Iconic for smartwatches, and the new smartphone could be called LG Icon.
