While Xiaomi has already confirmed that its next flagship will indeed launch with a Snapdragon 845, most other smartphone makers have remained silent on their own product plans. Now, a leak originating from China has revealed the entire list of products launching with Snapdragon 845 next year. While the list is not exhaustive, it mentions the successor to every device currently using Snapdragon 835 processor.
The leak reveals that Samsung and LG will be the first OEMs to launch smartphones based on Snapdragon 845 mobile platform. Samsung’s Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S9+ as well as LG’s G7 and G7+ will launch with Snapdragon 845 in February. Both Samsung as well as LG are expected to launch their flagship devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The leak claims that next device will be Mi 7 from Xiaomi, which is said to launch in April next year. It will be followed by HTC U12 in May, and OnePlus 6 in June. There is also mention of ZTE launching nubia Z18 and Sony launching Xperia XZ Pro-A with Snapdragon 845 in June.
In the second half of 2018, Samsung is detailed to launch Galaxy Note 9, which indicates Qualcomm is sticking to one flagship processor model next year as well. However, the San Diego-based chipmaker has not officially confirmed that there won’t be a new chipset in the second half of next year.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and LG V40 are also likely to launch with Snapdragon 845 in September. The list further reveals that October will see the launch of Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, ZTE nubia Z18S, Sony Xperia XZ2 and HTC U12+. Interestingly, Motorola’s first Snapdragon 845 equipped smartphone is said to launch only in November in the form of Moto Z 2019. The list also claims OnePlus will launch OnePlus 6T in December while Samsung will launch its updated flip phone W2019 with Snapdragon 845.
It is very well known that first half of 2018 will see launch of mid-range and premium flagships with Snapdragon 845 from Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, HTC and OnePlus. The details for the second half should be taken with a pinch of salt since Qualcomm and OnePlus have not officially shared details about their plans for next year.
Apart from performance, the smartphones launching next year with Snapdragon 845 will also focus on artificial intelligence and security. The chipset also brings faster connectivity and enhanced image processing to smartphones.
