Earlier this week, reports around Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Tab S 2 surfaced online claiming that it would be slimmer than the Apple iPad Air 2. Now the folks at SamMobile have yet again exclusively revealed the specifications and features of the forthcoming tablets. As per the publication, Samsung’s forthcoming tablets will feature 8-inch and 9.7-inch screens with 4:3 ratio. As for the display, they will be Super AMOLED with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels, which is down from 2560×1600 pixels. Both the tablets are likely to be powered by an Exynos 7420 processor with 64-bit capabilities, which is also an indication that they will run on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box. Just like their predecessors, the tablets will be differentiated on the basis of the batteries, with the 8-inch featuring a 3,580mAh battery, and the 9.7-inch tablet featuring a 5,870mAh battery. Other features set to be included are 8-megapixel rear camera, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage expandable by up to 128GB through a microSD slot. As mentioned above, both the tablets will be slimmer than an iPad Air 2 with dimensions of 198.2×134.5×5.4mm and 237.1×168.8×5.4 mm respectively. They will also flaunt a metallic frame.
As of now, there is no word on when Samsung plans on unveiling the tablets, but a mid-2015 launch is a possibility.
