Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 leaked user manual confirms optional S-Pen stylus

The Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to feature spilling edges.

Adding more weight to the rumor about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, a user manual has been leaked online suggesting that the tablet will feature an optional S-Pen as an accessory. Although Samsung will skip launching the anticipated Galaxy S8 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, it will be releasing the filler tablet which will probably keep the interest going.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has been detailed in numerous leaks in the past. By far, what had been but a rumor has been confirmed thanks to the user manual leaked just days ahead of the official launch. Based on the leaked manual, the Galaxy Tab S3 will not come with a storage slot for the S-Pen and hence, it will be available as an optional accessory.

S-Pen features and specifications

If you hover the S-Pen over the screen and press the S Pen button, it will open the Air Command panel, which is basically a way for accessing frequently used apps or taking notes. You can access notes, do a ‘smart select’ of an area and perform actions such as sharing/saving, and capture screenshots to write or doodle on them, among other things using the S-Pen.

The S-Pen can further translate on-the-go. All you need to do is hover the pen over a word to translate it. However, the device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi to use the feature. Additionally, there is support for select languages and the feature is available only on screens that allow you to perform a screen capture.

There are several other nifty features such as writing memos on the screen even when the screen is turned off. As it will be an optional accessory, it is expected that the S-Pen will be sold at an additional cost. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 with S Pen stylus leaked ahead of MWC 2017

Galaxy Tab S3 features and specifications

Based on the leaked user manual, there will be two variants of the Galaxy Tab S3; out of which one will come with LTE support. With looks borrowed from the predecessor Tab S2, the newer version will bring in subtle improvements, especially with the inclusion of the optional stylus. In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Tab S3 is likely to feature a 9.6-inch AMOLED display with spilling edges, similar to the S7 Edge. It will offer 2048×1536 pixels resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to come powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. It is further likely to feature 32GB/128GB of internal storage. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 leaked renders hint at dual-edge curved display; here’s everything we know so far

The tablet will further run the newer Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. It is likely to be fuelled by a 5,870mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it is expected to be Type-C based, and come with a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button on the front.
