Samsung is hosting an event tomorrow in India where it’s expected to launch the next device. Although the device isn’t mentioned, all bets are on the Galaxy Tab S3. The successor to the Galaxy Tab 2, Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy Tab S3 at this year’s MWC expo. The Galaxy Tab S3 comes with a host of improvements and competes with the Apple iPad Pro. The tablet comes in two variants of Wi-Fi only and Cellular support.
The new additions to the Galaxy Tab S3 include support for S Pen stylus which can be used to doodle and take notes as well. The Galaxy Tab S3 also comes with support for an external keyboard that can be connected via pogo pins. The external keyboard doesn’t come bundled with the tablet and needs to be purchased separately. In terms of design, the tablet houses a front-facing camera above the display with the capacitive buttons on the bottom.
There’s a physical Home button which doubles as a fingerprint sensor. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right side of the tablet. The Galaxy Tab S3 has a total of four speakers, out of which two are placed on the bottom edge. The Galaxy Tab S3 features a 9.7-inch Super AMOLED QXGA display offering the resolution of 2048×1536 pixels and aspect ratio of 4:3. The display supports playback of HDR content too. Under the hood of the tablet, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage that is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. In the photography department, the Galaxy Tab S3 sports a 13-megapixel auto-focus camera. Up front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. The tablet is fuelled by a 6,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. Samsung says that the tablet’s 6,000mAh battery can offer runtime of up to 12 hours. The connectivity options available on the tablet include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, and GPS. The cellular variant supports LTE Cat.6 with maximum speeds up to 300Mbps.
On the software front, the Galaxy Tab S3 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat-based TouchWiz UX. The tablet is also equipped with Vulkan API for better graphics performance which is available on the Galaxy S7, and the Galaxy S7 edge.
