Samsung India has just announced the launch of its latest wearable smartwatch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch in the market. Samsung is offering two variants of the smartwatch, the 42mm ad the 46mm where the 42mm will be available in Midnight Black and Rose Gold colors and the 46mm will be available in Silver color with Matt Black bezels. The pricing for the smartwatch starts with the 42mm version coming at Rs 24,990 while the 46mm is priced at Rs 29,990. Such pricing is by no means cheap considering that the Galaxy Watch does not come with the latest Wearable processors that Qualcomm launched a few weeks back. General Manager for Samsung India, Aditya Babbar issued a statement on the launch of the smartwatch stating, The Galaxy Watch extends our smartwatch tradition of blending timeless design with revolutionary technology. It is the perfect fashion accessory that can change completely to go with your look. The company has added Corning Gorilla DX+ on the Galaxy Watch to protect the display. Talking about the display, the 42mm variant sports a 1.2-inch screen, while the 46mm sports a 1.3-inch screen. Both are circular Super AMOLED displays with 360 360 pixels resolution. Under the hood is an Exynos 9110 dual-core chipset clocked at 1.15GHz. Samsung is only selling the Wi-Fi variant in India with 4GB internal memory and 768MB of RAM. In terms of connectivity, the wearable will also come with Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and GPS in addition to Wi-Fi.
The smartwatch can now recognize and support 39 workout modes. Of these, it can automatically start recording six types of workouts. This is a big upgrade over the Gear S3, which only supported 10 workout modes. The company claims that the Galaxy Watch comes with a newly advanced sleep tracker to monitor REM cycles.
The Galaxy Watch can also be safely taken underwater when swimming with 5 ATM water resistance and IP68 rating. The 42mm variant features a 270mAh battery and the 46mm variant features a 472mAh battery. On the software end of things, the device will run Tizen-based Wearable OS 4.0.
