While rumors in the past have indicated Samsung adopting Google’s Wear OS, a leak confirmed yesterday that Galaxy Watch will run Tizen 4.0, its own operating system. Ahead of the launch, the Galaxy Watch has made a stop at the US FCC, further confirming its name. The FCC documentation shows the image of the rear of the device and the position of the FCC “label” engraved on the back of the watch. At the top is the ‘Samsung Galaxy Watch’ branding in big letters. Also Read - Logitech MK295 Silent Combo includes a silent keyboard and mouse for Rs 2,995
The listing also reveals that Samsung Galaxy Watch will have model numbers of SM-R815U and SM-R815W for the devices to be launched in the US and Canada. There is also confirmation that Galaxy Watch will support network bands used by all the four major US carriers for LTE service. The Galaxy Watch should be supported by Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint when it becomes officially available. Samsung might also offer the wearable unlocked at its stores and let consumers choose their carrier.
The documents reveal that the display measures approximately 1.2 inches while the case measures 51.2mm x 43.4mm in dimension. The FCC documentation spotted by Droid Life does not confirm whether it will run Tizen or Google’s Wear OS but it is more likely to be based on Samsung’s own Tizen 4.0.
