Following the price leak of the Galaxy S5, reports now suggest that Samsung has disclosed the prices of its next generation smartwatch models – the Gear 2 and Gear Fit – in Taiwan. According to Sammobile, the Korean company has priced the Gear 2 at $295 (approximately Rs 18,000), and the Gear Fit at $197, which translates to about Rs 12,000. The Gear 2 has been priced slightly cheaper than the retail price of its first-generation Gear smartwatch model. There is no information about the price of the Gear 2 Neo, however the report suggests that it would most likely be priced in line with the Gear Fit. In terms of specifications, the Samsung Gear Fit comes with a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED screen. It features a pedometer and heart rate monitor, and comes with notification alert support for emails, calls, SMS, alarm, S-planner and other third party applications from the connected Galaxy smartphones. The Gear 2 has a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display with 320x320p resolution and runs on Samsung Tizen OS, instead of Android OS. It are powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM. It comes with a 2-megapixel camera and houses a 300mAh battery, which is smaller than the one seen on the Gear. The Gear 2 Neo comes with similar features, however lacks camera.
Samsung had announced these smartwatches in the MWC last month, and will be launching these globally starting from April.
