Samsung Gear IconX truly wireless earbuds, Gear Fit2 GPS-enabled wearable launched: Price, specifications, features

Samsung has launched a couple of wearables aimed at fitness enthusiasts.

Samsung has launched its first-ever truly wireless earbuds, called the IconX. The earbuds can not only be used for listening to music but also works as a fitness tracker. These pair of earbuds are priced at $199 (Rs 13,300 approximately). Right now, there is no word on the availability of the IconX. Samsung has also launched the Gear Fit2 fitness tracker, priced at $179 (Rs 12,000 approximately), which goes on sale in select markets on June 8.

The Gear IconX are truly wireless in the sense that they have no wires to connect to a smartphone or each other as well. They connect to a smartphone using Bluetooth 4.1, and also feature 4GB built-in storage that can store up to 1,000 songs. The 47mAh battery underneath is said to be good enough to last up to three hours on a single charge.

Besides the standalone music player, these earbuds are also fitness trackers with sensors onboard including an accelerometer and heart-rate monitor. They can track fitness-related activities and then sync the data to Samsung’s S Health app when connected to a smartphone.

Samsung has also launched the Gear Fit2, which as the name suggests, is the successor to the Gear Fit launched in 2014. The Gear Fit2 is not only bigger, but boasts an updated design as well. It comes in two sizes, and multiple reports say that it is more comfortable to wear than its predecessor.

The Gear Fit2 flaunts a 1.5-inch Curved Super AMOLED display with 216×432 pixels resolution, and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM. Also on offer is 4GB built-in storage. The 200mAh battery underneath is said to be good enough to last up to three to four days.

It is worth pointing out here that the Gear Fit2 only works with smartphones running on Android KitKat 4.4 and above, and featuring at least 1.5GB of RAM. Its rivals are the likes of Fitbit, Runtastic and even the ultra-affordable Xiaomi Mi Band 2.
