As per Korean publication Yonhap News, Samsung will take the wraps off the smartwatch at IFA 2018, and not on August 9. This year s IFA will take place between August 31-September 5 at Berlin. This won t be the first time Samsung will be using the platform to unveil a new product. Previously, the company has launched a Galaxy Note and smartwatch at IFA. While a launch timeframe is all but confirmed, what Samsung plans to call its next-generation smartwatch is anyone s guess. While the smartwatch was earlier expected to be called Gear S4, a recent leak hinted at the Gear Watch nomenclature.
Based on what we have come across so far, the Gear S4 aka Gear Watch will run Google s Wear OS. This would represent a shift in Samsung s strategy, which has so far opted for the in-house Tizen OS for its smartwatches.
The smartwatch is expected to boast a 470mAh battery, and could also come with a blood pressure measuring feature. This focus on health is no doubt to take on the Apple Watch. Another report claimed that the smartwatch will come with Bixby support, and users will be able to invoke the AI assistant by saying Hi Bixby .
