Samsung yesterday launched a new ‘On’ series of handsets for young Internet-savvy users, a move aimed at helping the Korean electronics major further expand its position in the mid-priced smartphone market in India. Samsung claims to have grown its market share in the mid segment (Rs 10,000 – Rs 20,000 smartphones) to 49 percent in September from 43 percent in the same month last year. “Young India today is always on the move and is looking to be connected all the time. At the same time, India is a value driven market and ‘On’ series will enable millennials to seamlessly integrate their personal and professional lives,” Samsung India Electronics Director Product Marketing Manu Sharma told PTI. He added that “engaging propositions” like MixRadio and My Galaxy will help in the uptake of the ‘On’ range of devices. Samsung Galaxy On5 specifications and features: The Galaxy On5 flaunts a 5-inch HD (1280 720 pixels) TFT display, and is powered by Samsung s Exynos 3475 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM. Also on offer is 8GB internal storage, of which around 4.3GB is available for the users. One can however use a microSD card to expand the memory up to 128GB.
On the photography front, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front. It also features a 2,600mAh battery that is said to be good enough for up to 15 hours of talktime. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Samsung Galaxy On7 specifications and features: The Galaxy On7, on the other hand, flaunts a 5.5-inch HD (1280 720 pixels) display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM.
The smartphone too offers 8GB internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card, 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and a bigger 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and on the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop as well.
