Samsung has been long expected to launch its entry-level Tizen smartphone, Z2 in India. While past rumors hinted at a launch on August 11, that didn’t happen. However, Samsung has now sent out media invites for an event on August 23, where it is most likely to launch the Z2. So far, the company has launched two Tizen OS-based smartphones in India – the Samsung Z1 and Samsung Z3.
The invite reads “Samsung’s next meaningful innovation is here.” “Samsung India cordially invites you for the unveiling of its next smartphone,” the invite further adds. While the invite doesn’t explicitely mention the Z2, there’s been a lot of buzz recently about Samsung planning to launch a new Tizen smartphone in India.
Samsung Z2 specifications
From what we know so far, the Samsung Z2 will feature a 3.97-inch (800×480 pixels) LCD display, and will be powered by a 1.5GHz processor paired with 1GB RAM. It is also likely to come with 8GB storage, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 1,500mAh battery and connectivity options like 4G with VoLTE support, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. On the software front, the smartphone will run on Tizen OS 3.0, and few reports also suggest that it will be equipped with S Bike Mode and My Money Transfer App.
Samsung Z2 price
According to reports, the Samsung Z2 could be priced around $70, which is approximately Rs 4,499. It is also set to be available in countries including India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, South Africa, Indonesia, Nepal and United Arab Emirates. If Samsung launches the Z2 around the Rs 4,500 mark, the smartphone will face tough competition from the likes of the Reliance Digital LYF Flame 8 and Intex Cloud Fame to name a few.
