Samsung finally took the wraps off its first Tizen-powered smartphone. Called the Z1, the company launched the handset in India today for Rs 5,700. Besides offering entry-level specification and a competitive price tag, the company also announced several enticing features to lure in customers. The company announced that the Tizen Store, the marquee app store for Tizen-based handsets has more than 1,000 apps. The handset also comes with many popular apps including Amazon,com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Flipkart pre-installed on them. It has also partnered with Hungama.com giving free access to Z1 holders, to about two million Bollywood and English songs for a period of three months. Lastly, the tech giant has also partnered with mobile Live TV service nexGTv and Box TV to allow consumers to watch TV shows and 7000 Bollywood and Hollywood movies for three months. Annual subscription fee for this service, post these three months is Rs 1,750.
The company also announced that the Z1 handset supports 14 Indian regional languages. Among other features, the Z1 comes with a SOS alert feature to send ‘Help’ message in case of emergency situtation.
