Samsung might be planning a major revamp for its smartphone lineup. After reports emerged that company might be getting rid of Galaxy J-series and Galaxy A-series and introduce new cheaper devices under Galaxy M lineup, a new leak claims that there is also a Galaxy G series in the works.
The information about the existence of a ‘Galaxy G’ series appeared in a tweet from a known Samsung insider. Android Headlines, which spotted the tweet first, claims that the tweet only includes the term ‘Galaxy G’ and does not provide any further information about the product or lineup. This could mean that a new line of devices is coming from the South Korean smartphone maker.
At this moment, there is no information on the existence of a Galaxy G smartphone or tablet. The ‘Galaxy G’ hardware has also not appeared in any rumor or leak so far and Samsung’s own product roadmap has not shown any signs of a Galaxy G device. There is a possibility that the company is simply working on the branding and has not finalized any hardware under that moniker.
DJ Koh, the mobile chief of Samsung Electronics, has said multiple times that the Korean giant is looking to streamline its product lineup. At this moment, Samsung sells budget devices under Galaxy J range, mid-range devices under Galaxy A range, flagship devices under Galaxy S and Galaxy Note range. In addition to these, Samsung also sells devices under Galaxy C and Galaxy W series in markets like China.

With the launch of Galaxy G or Galaxy M, Samsung’s already expansive product lineup could only explode, leaving consumers spoilt for choices. There is also a possibility that Samsung might be revamping the Galaxy Grand series under the Galaxy G branding this year or early next year. This is still a speculation and Samsung’s plans might change altogether.
