Our Noida factory, the world s largest mobile factory, is a symbol of Samsung s strong commitment to India, and a shining example of the success of the Government s Make in India programme. Samsung is a long-term partner of India. We Make in India , Make for India and now, we will Make for the World . We are aligned with Government policies and will continue to seek their support to achieve our dream of making India a global export hub for mobile phones, Mr. HC Hong, Chief Executive Officer, Samsung India, said in a press release.
The Noida factory was set up in 1996, which was India s first global electronics manufacturing facility. The new plant is bigger, spread over 129,000 sq. metres, and it will help Samsung in meeting the growing smartphone demand. Currently, Samsung has two factories, in Noida and Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, one design center, and 5 R&D centers.
Samsung mentioned that the new plant will manufacture everything, right from a low-end smartphone, to the premium smartphones, including the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 8 and more. With local manufacturing, we do expect the Samsung smartphone prices in India to come down, but when we asked about the same, the company did not say anything yet.
