Samsung Galaxy Note 9 users can claim a free adapter from Samsung that will let you easily connect the phone with the current generation virtual reality headset Gear VR. While announcing the phone, Samsung did mention that the Galaxy Note 9 offers the best VR experience till date, but what it did not say was that the flagship won’t work with Gear VR as it doesn’t have same dimensions as Galaxy Note 8.

Thankfully, Samsung has a solution for it. The company is asking Samsung Galaxy Note 9 users to reach out to them for a free adapter, which will make the smartphone work seamlessly with current generation Gear VR, as first spotted by XDA-Developers Forum.

“The current iteration of Gear VR (SM-R325NZVAXAR) will be supported by the Galaxy Note 9, however, you will need an adapter to fit it. If you are a Galaxy Note 9 owner and would like to receive the adapter free of charge, please call 1-800-SAMSUNG”, notes Samsung.

It will take as much as two weeks for the adapter to reach customer after being asked, Samsung adds. However, the offer is reportedly available to customers in the United States as of now. So in case users looking to get the adapter anywhere else, they might need to contact Samsung at the moment.

Meanwhile, Samsung might also have a next-generation Gear VR in works. The alleged virtual headset by Samsung codenamed HMD Odyssey+ was recently spotted in an FCC listing. It revealed that the headset will come with traditional VR-enabling components. There were two headset variants with model numbers, XE800ZBA and XQ800ZBA spotted Bluetooth certification website as well. Having said that, Samsung itself hasn’t said anything about the Gear VR successor as yet, but it is possible that company might spill some information alongside Galaxy Home speaker details at IFA 2018 later this month.
