A slew of patents discovered by SammyToday, give a glimpse at Samsung’s future wearable device. This device with its circular design looks quite similar to the Motorola Moto 360 and also boasts gesture controls. According to the patents, users will be able to control the smartwatch using a host of gesture controls. For example, flicking your wrist will trigger a function on the smartwatch, while moving your hand in the vicinity of the watch will again trigger a separate function. In terms of design, the mockups show a form factor which resembles the Android Wear-powered Motorola Moto 360. The patents also show how the watch in its sleeping state will show the time and date and when you unlock it, it will show circular icons of apps like weather, maps, contacts, and more. Additional functions include the ability to scan barcodes and monitoring health and fitness activities among others. The patents also reveal how the device can be worn on the wrist, biceps or on one’s neck as a necklace. The device does look quite interesting, but it is important to remember that these are only patents. They don’t mean that the device is in existence, but only point at a direction Samsung is working towards.
