Samsung mid-range smartphone users will be delighted to know that the company is considering the Android 4.4 Kitkat update for smartphones other than the premium ones in its portfolio. SamMobile has been tipped an image of a part of the list of devices that Samsung is considering for the KitKat update. This list mentions smartphones like the Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, and Galaxy Fresh, but seems to have many more devices under investigation. The photo shows that the devices are under investigation for the Android 4.4 KitKat update, which means that Samsung must be testing if these devices would be able to run the update well, and might not actually bring the KitKat flavor on all of these in future. However, knowing that Google s KitKat version of Android brings reduced memory consumption on low-memory (512MB) and low-cost devices, we can hope to see this iteration running on some, if not all, of these mid-range Samsung devices.
Currently, it is just the Google Editions of the Galaxy S4 and One smartphones that have received the Android 4.4 KitKat update apart from the Nexus range of smartphones and tablets. Recently Sony had also announced to bring the Android 4.4 KitKat update to the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 smartphones as well.
