Samsung today sent out media invites for a launch event later this week in New Delhi on August 19. While the invite doesn t exactly mention the Galaxy S6 Edge+, the tagline Experience the new Edge in innovation , hints at the forthcoming smartphone. The phablet was unveiled only last week at the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York City. Also Read - Samsung Galaxy S22 could get 50MP main rear camera sensor, not 108MP
Launching a flagship less than a month after its global unveiling is a break in tradition for Samsung. The South Korean giant usually unveils a new phablet at IFA in September, and then launches it in India a month later. The reason behind the rush is a part of Samsung s plans to get a head start over Apple s forthcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ specifications
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is essentially a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which launched earlier this year. It features a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB internal storage.
It also features a 16-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery, 4G LTE support, and on the software front, it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the box, wrapped under a refreshed TouchWiz UI.
Samsung also unveiled the flagship Galaxy Note 5 phablet at the same Unpacked event last week. But unlike the Galaxy S6 Edge+, reports claim that the Note phablet will only launch sometime next month. With only a couple of days to launch, we won t have to wait long to get all the price and availability related information.
