Yesterday, BGR India learnt that Samsung is gearing up to launch its latest flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India as early as next week. Today, Samsung has sent out media invites for the launch event which is set to take place in New Delhi on Tuesday, March 8. According to reports, both smartphones are likely to go on sale starting third week of this month. The report also states that Samsung is going with Rs 100 crore marketing budget in India to take on Apple s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. With the new flagships, Samsung hasn t gone all out to make many drastic changes, but has introduced a lot of under the hood improvements. Besides the latest Snapdragon 820 processor on board, both flagships also feature microSD card slot for expandable storage, IP68 water resistance and improved 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera. Samsung has also added an Always On display mode whereas you can check the time, notifications and calendar alerts without having to unlock the phone. Samsung is also focusing on gaming aspect by adding support for Vulcan API.
As of now, there is no word on the pricing. Unlike last year s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge that were priced above Rs 50,000, the price of current flagships could start from Rs 45,000, HindustanTimes reports.

While the Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch screen, the Galaxy S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch screen. Both are Super AMOLED panels with QHD (2560 1440 pixels) resolution. Depending upon the market, both flagships are powered by either a Snapdragon 820 chipset or Exynos 8890 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage options along with microSD card support.
On the photography front, there s a 12-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/1.7 OIS, PDAF and Dual Pixel auto-focus. Up front, there s also a 5-megapixel selfie camera of aperture f/1.7.
In terms of battery, the Galaxy S7 is armed with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, whereas the Edge variant is equipped with a slightly larger 3,600mAh battery. While both smartphones do not support Qualcomm s Quick Charge 3.0, Wireless Fast Charging is still present. On the connectivity from, dual-SIM card slots (hybrid support), 4G LTE, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac are present.
Both smartphones also feature IP68 certification to make them water and dust resistant. On the software front, they run on Android marshmallow wrapped under TouchWiz UI.
