Samsung had announced a few months back that it is changing its strategy, in order to focus more on mid-range smartphones, and introduce new and innovative features in that category. We ve already seen the strategy take shape, as last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy A7 (2018), which is the first of its devices to feature a triple camera setup at the back. Now sticking to that plan, it looks like Samsung is planning to bring wireless charging to the mid-range category as well. Also Read - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 to cost cheaper than Note 10 series

According to ETNews, Samsung is currently working on an affordable wireless charger, which will cost not more than $20 (approximately Rs 1,500). The charger is expected to be an ideal accessory for the upcoming Galaxy A and Galaxy J series smartphones. Not just that, it is also said to carry the same performance as Samsung s existing 9-Watt wireless chargers. Also Read - Samsung Galaxy Buds X new leaks offer closer look, various color variants

Currently, wireless charging is only found on Samsung s flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series of smartphones. However, by introducing the technology in the mid-range segment, Samsung is planning to make it a common feature in that category. The affordable pricing should also prompt other brands to lower the prices of their wireless chargers.

Samsung seems to be aggressively working towards narrowing down the gap between its premium and mid-range smartphones. Besides this, rumors have also suggested the company to be working on Galaxy P1, which is expected to be the first smartphone from the company to features an in-display fingerprint sensor. It has been touted to launch by the end of October.
