Samsung's refurbished Galaxy Note 7 aka Galaxy Note FE to launch outside Korea soon: Report

Samsung Galaxy Note FE has been getting a rave response in South Korea.

After bungling up the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and recalling devices globally, Samsung announced plans of launching a refurbished version of the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Note FE (called the Fan Edition as many assumed Samsung would not have takers for the refurbished smartphone except for ardent fans) was announced in South Korea a couple of weeks back. Post the announcements, the smartphone has managed to garner much interest a wide interest. Looking at the turn of events, Samsung now plans to bring the Samsung Galaxy Note FE to international markets. As initially announced by Samsung, the Galaxy Note FE was to be a limited edition smartphone restricted to South Korea or a couple of other Asian markets. But a recent report by Pocketnow suggests that Samsung is contemplating bringing the Galaxy Note FE to more markets. Samsung has so far 400,000 units of the Samsung Galaxy SE and the company does not plan to launch any more units in South Korea, confirms the report. Samsung says, “We have no plans to roll out more Note FE phones in Korea”, which according to the report, hints at an international launch. The report also cites anonymous sources who suggest that Samsung is open to announce the Galaxy Note 7 in specific markets outside South Korea as early as this month end. The report does not mention the markets or the exact timeline Samsung plans to go overseas with Galaxy Note FE. However, Samsung has been pretty vocal about its plans regarding expansion when it comes to the Galaxy Note FE. The company has already ruled out the device coming to the US or India. The Samsung Galaxy Note FE retains most of the specifications of the original Galaxy Note 7. However, the one minor change Samsung has made is toning down the battery of the smartphone to 3,200mAh instead of the previous 3,500mAh. Not surprising considering Samsung constantly maintained that a faulty battery was the cause of the Galaxy Note 7 blast-gate. The smartphone is priced considerably cheaper at 699,600 won (approximately Rs 39,400) in South Korea. The international version of the smartphone is expected to come with similar specifications, except for one change. Samsung plans to replace the Snapdragon 820 chipset powering the Galaxy Note FE with Snapdragon 821 SoC in the international version.

While Samsung might be readying to announce the Galaxy Note FE in international markets, Samsung fans are excited about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8. There have been multiple leaks around the smartphone that have revealed every minor detail regarding the device. With nothing left a secret, the smartphone seems impressive and will arrive to set right the Samsung Galaxy Note name again. It will be interesting to see two Galaxy Note series smartphones launch back to back if the rumors of the Galaxy Note FE expanding to other markets are true.
