OLED has become a new trend in mobile phones, and Sharp has now officially announced its first smartphone with an OLED display, called Aquos Zero. The device has been launched in Japan, and uses Sharp’s sophisticated technology seen on their TV panel, to provide users with a great visual experience. According to Sharp, the Aquos Zero will also be introduced in Taiwan in the near future. The Sharp Aquos Zero has magnesium alloy side frame and is light, wear-resistant and durable. The back of the device has carbon fiber finish, which helps keep the weight of the device at only 146 grams. The smartphone flaunts a 6.2-inch WQHD+ OLED display panel, Dolby Vision image display, 3D front, and rear hyperboloid design with a notch at the top. The Sharp Aquos Zero takes the flagship specifications route, and is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC under the hood, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage capacity. For photography, the device is equipped with a 22-megapixel CMOS wide-angle lens at the back, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front.
The device also features Dolby Atom’s panoramic sound stereo technology. The up and down speakers provide complete high-quality stereo-sound field effects, and support Hi-Res high sound quality. It also boasts IP68 certification that makes it resistant to water and dust.
The Aquos Zero’s battery capacity is at 3,130mAh, and it also sports a unique charging and heat dissipation technology. The latter helps effectively suppresses the temperature rise during charging, and ensures safety. On the software front, the smartphone runs the latest Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.

Sharp has yet to reveal an official price tag for the Aquos Zero. Besides Japan and Taiwan, there is no word on whether the smartphone will be launched in any other country.
