Sharp S3 with Android One OS, Snapdragon 430 SoC launched: Price, specifications and features

The new Sharp smartphone has presently only been launched in the markets of Japan.

Lately, Google has been aggressively pushing OEMs to the Android One platform, and the newest to join the league is Japanese manufacturer Sharp.

Only available in the markets of Japan, Sharp has launched the new S3 smartphone, which runs the new Android One program, based on the latest Oreo version of the operating system. The smartphone is priced at 32,400 Yen, which translates to about Rs 19,000. The smartphone comes in Turquoise, Navy Black, White and Pink color options.

Sharp S3 specifications and features

The Sharp S3 features a 5-inch IGZO display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels. Powering the device is the old Snapdragon 430 chipset, which is accompanied with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. Surprisingly, the device also comes sans a fingerprint sensor.

However, the Sharp S3 is a rugged smartphone with IPX water resistant properties and IP6X dust-proof properties.

For photography, it sports a 13-megapixel camera paired with an LED flash at the rear, and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. Fuelling the smartphone is a 2700mAh battery.

The Sharp S3 has support for 4G LTE and VoLTE with a promised talk time of 22 hours on LTE network and standby time of 605 hours. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port for data transfer and charging. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.
