An 18-year-old Tennessee resident Sam Ray was stuck under his truck, when it suddenly fell on him while he was repairing it. There was no one in vicinity, and even after repeated yells for help, no aid arrived. He suddenly heard Siri activate, and when he asked it to call 911, the voice assistant obeyed effectively saving Ray’s life. “I said ‘Call 911,’ and that was all it said,” Ray told Associated Press. The voice assistant then automatically called the Rutherford County dispatcher Christina Lee. First, Lee thought that a user had mistakenly dialed, but after hearing screams, she immediately sent rescue teams to get Ray out from under the truck. Ray was repeatedly screaming, “Help me! I’m stuck under my truck!”
The boy was under nearly 5,000 pounds of metal for seven minutes, after a jack holding the truck above the ground collapsed. After the crew rescued Ray, he was rushed to the hospital and given proper aid.
