Indian electronics manufacturer Smartron has launched its latest product, the Smartron t-book Flex tablet-laptop hybrid. The device is priced at Rs 42,990 for the variant with an Intel Core m3 processor, and Rs 52,990 for the variant with the Intel Core i5 processor. It is essentially positioned as an affordable hybrid device for users looking for a tablet that can double-up as a laptop when needed. The device is the successor to the Smartron, which was launched in 2016. It is slated to go on sale via Flipkart this month.

The new Flex, like its predecessor, is designed on the same lines as the Microsoft Surface range of tablet-laptop hybrids. The Flex is essentially a Windows 10-powered tablet with all the specifications and features of an entry-level laptop, along with a touch-screen display, and detachable keyboard. The keyboard magnetically clamps onto the tablet, and also works wirelessly using Bluetooth.

While the Smartron Flex is a lot like the in terms of design and form factor, the new device has some refinements and specification updates that bring it in line with other 2018 devices. With its price tag starting from Rs 42,990, the device serves as a more portable and media-friendly alternative to a similarly-priced full-form laptop. The kick stand allows the tablet to be used upright on a table-top, and when connected to the keyboard, it lets you use it as a laptop. The form factor is identical to that of the Microsoft Surface Pro.
