The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has announced that a new regulation related to spam text messages from tele-marketers will come into effect from September 27. The regulation directs all service providers to “withdraw before the 26th September, 2011 all  telecom resources allocated to  a telemarketer except those telecom resources which have been allocated in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.Also Read - Common marketing gimmicks that brands should avoid to exploit consumers

The regulation will also limit the number of text messages that can be sent from a SIM card in a day to 100 text messages and will review the limit from time to time. Subscribers will have to give an undertaking that they won’t send any commercial text message if they want a higher limit.
