Snap Inc, the company behind the multimedia messaging platform Snapchat seems to be working on a new feature with the code name Eagle for the app. This new feature will allow users to search for products inside a photo sent as a snap message or a snap story. According to an in-depth report by TechCrunch, the unreleased Visual Search feature is present inside the code of the Snapchat app. As spotted in the code, users will be able to Press and hold to identify an object, song, barcode, and more! .
According to the report, the way this function works is by sharing the data with Amazon, Shazam, and other partners. If and when a barcode or an object is scanned using this feature, the app will allow the users to See all results at Amazon. This indicates a much comprehensive partnership between both the companies. As mentioned in the report, this new feature will turn Snapchat into more of a general purpose tool for seeing and navigating the world which is different from where the app currently stands. This will actually turn the app more like a Google Lens alternative that is powered by Amazon, Shazam and other partners instead of the Google back end.

Amazon has not issued an official statement at the time of writing while Snap Inc replied to the original report with a no comment statement. According to the report, the code states that users will be able to see the sellers of any given product along with its reviews . Users will also be able to Copy URL with the ability to Share or Send Product to their friends.
