Snapdeal hopes to reach atleast 100 million Indian audience in 12 months through its TV channel. The approach towards the TV shopping medium will be completely different from the online shopping ones. It is interesting to see Snapdeal foray into the TV home shopping space at a time when companies like HomeShop 18 who were traditionally in the TV space, have transitioned to the web.
In October, Snapdeal raised $627 Million from SoftBank Group. It has decided to put focus on fashion retail and has set a goal of $2 billion in fashion sales for 2015-2016 fiscal. They already started work by tying up with fashion designers, brands and retail outlets like Shopper Stop and many more to improve sales. We might see a push of these products on its TV channel too now.
