Snapdeal has just announced that it has acquired Freecharge for an undisclosed amount. The e-commerce company took a rather cute approach to announce the deal on Twitter. The company informally ‘proposed’ to Freecharge on Twitter by using a witty catchphrase ‘Will you recharge my life?’ Cuteness Overload.

Snapdeal’s Twitter account begun the conversation with Freecharge with a subtle, “Hey, Psst.. I have something for you,” to which Freecharge innocently enquires, “Umm.. What?” Snapdeal then pops the question with a picture of two rings merging together and the text,” Will you recharge my life?”

This has to be the most innovative technique to announce acquisition news by an Indian company. Tech companies are going big on Twitter to engage into social conversations with each other and its audience. This little ‘popping the question’ charade was an extremely cute and effective gesture of disclosing an otherwise, what is speculated to be a Rs 2,800 crore deal.

Snapdeal claims that this deal positions the company as the largest mcommerce company in India. “This is one of the biggest acquisitions in the history of the Internet industry in India and sets up Snapdeal to build the most impactful digital commerce ecosystem in India,” the company said in a statement.

Needless to say, Freecharge readily accepted the proposal. Happy married life you guys!
