Sony has announced the software update roadmap for its Z lineage of smartphones as well as a number of other smartphones. Starting from next month, the company will start rolling out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 as well as Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V smartphones. Besides this, the company has also announced to soon bring the latest Android 4.4 KitKat flavor to select smartphones in the first wave of update. A few weeks back, Samsung had also started offering Android 4.3 Jelly Bean flavors to its Galaxy S4 users across the world. Essentially the company will be first bring the Android KitKat version update only to the Z series which will include the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1.
Sony has not disclosed the timing for the release of these updates and there is no information given on the name of the countries to receive this update. It will roll out the update in phases and the update timing and availability would vary by market. With the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update coming next month, we don t expect the Android 4.4 KitKat update to be rolled out for another couple of months.
