Android smartphones now account for over 80 percent of Sony Ericsson’s total sales, the company revealed during its third quarter earnings release today. The company plans to shift its entire portfolio to smartphones by 2012 as its Average Selling Price rose to Euro 166 in this quarter, up 8 percent year-on-year and 6 percent sequentially. Its XPERIA series of Android smartphones accounted for 12 percent of total Android smartphones market in value and 11 percent in volume this quarter. Android-based Xperia smartphone sales now account for more than 80 percent of sales and we have shipped 22 million Xperia smartphones to date.  We will continue to invest in the smartphone market, shifting the entire portfolio to smartphones during 2012.
