There’s no denying that SD cards have revolutionized the way we store/carry digital information. As its name suggests, ‘Tough’ is all about strength. Sony claims that the new SD card is the ‘world’s toughest and fastest,’ and 18 times more resistant to bending than conventional memory cards. This is achieved by a monolithic construction that eliminates the risk of data loss due to physical damage. Also Read - God of War Ragnarok delayed until 2022: Here's why
Tough also features a new ‘ribless’ design that does away with breakable components such as the write protection switch. The monolithic construction further allows the SD card to be IP6X compliant. Sony says that Tough (and the data stored on it) can survive being submerged in fiver meters of water for up to 72 hours. If the card gets dirty, it can be easily washed in fresh water and wiped dry to be used again. This thing is even shock-resistant, and able to withstand being dropped from a height of five meters. Apart from the ruggedness, Sony Tough is also fast. Armed with Sony’s high-speed capture technology, it can achieve write speeds of up to 299MB/second. This, and the integrated UHS-II support, make the card ideal for devices such as professional-grade DSLR cameras. Sony Tough is available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage capacities.
