In the prelude to the Mobile World Congress, it was expected that Sony would release a device called the MT27i Pepper. Unfortunately, the phone never saw light of day, however the device has suddenly popped up on the official Chinese website of Sony Mobile if the Xperia Blog is to be believed.
From what we can gather, physically the device is reminiscent of the Xperia S, though it is decidedly smaller with it featuring a 3.7-inch 854×480 display and it dropping the unique transparent bar element introduced in the new line up of Xperia smartphones. Apart from this, the device will also feature Sony’s homegrown NovaThor chipset developed in cooperation with Ericsson clocked at 1GHz with twin cores. Other features of the device include 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera and perhaps also NFC. While there are no details about pricing, PhoneMantra notes that the device could perhaps hit Indian shores by April and could be price at Rs 19,999.
