Looks like the Pokemon fever isn t really over, at least for Sony. Or it s simply late to the party. A recent benchmark testing leak on GFXBench, has revealed a smartphone dubbed Pikachu. Now, this may just be a codename, or just a treat for the Pokemaniacs. Spotted by GSMArena, the listing reveals the the Sony Pikachu will feature a 5-inch HD display. Under the hood, the device will be powered by MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 chipset with octa-core 2.3GHz processor. The processor will be accompanied by 2.8GB of RAM, and the listing shows 22GB of storage, which indicates the available storage. That means the device will come with 32GB of on-board storage. The listing also reveals the photography capabilities of the device. The Sony Pikachu will sport a 21-megapixel primary camera, with auto focus, face detection, flash, HDR and touch focus features. On the other hand, the secondary camera is a 7-megapixel unit.
The sensors on the Sony Pikachu include accelerometer, Bluetooth, compass, GPS, light sensor, NFC and a proximity sensor. Also, the device will run the new Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
Lately a bunch of Sony smartphones have been in news, where four of them are expected to be revealed at the upcoming MWC 2017. Among the money leaks, the most recent was the Sony Xperia XA (2017) that was spotted online. The Sony Xperia XA is expected to come with USB Type-C connectivity but retains the standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Renders of the purported smartphone were recently leaked online. Based on the renders, the successor to the Xperia XA is expected to feature a 5-inch display and with thinner bezels. Additionally, there is another device, the Sony Xperia Z5, that the company is expected to unveil behind closed doors at MWC 2017. The leaks around the device has been surfacing quite a bit lately. The leaks have revealed that, codenamed Yoshino , the device will be the most premium of the lot featuring a 5.5-inch 4K display, Qualcomm s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and also use Sony IMX400 sensor for its cameras. This would be the newest image sensor for smartphone cameras, with the likes of the Google Pixel smartphones using IMX378 sensor.
So now the devices that are lined up for a plausible launch at MWC are codenamed BlancBright, Keyaki, Hinoki and Mineo. Talking about the BlancBright smartphone, according to its leaked specifications, the device seems to be the lower variant of the Yoshino smartphone. This smartphone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch WQHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835/635 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and camera boasting IMX400 sensor. Further, the Keyaki and Hinoki smartphones are believed to land up in the mid-range category. Both the smartphones will have a MediaTek Helio P20 processor running under the hood. The Keyaki smartphone is said to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display. The smartphone will come with 4GB of RAM and onboard storage of 64GB. For photography, the Keyaki smartphone could feature a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel selfie camera up front.
On the other hand, the Hinoki smartphone could feature a smaller 5-inch HD display. This smartphone is expected to come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. In the photography department, the smartphone will likely sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
