The Android 8.0 Oreo update is being rolled out over-the-air and should appear as soon as it becomes available. Alternatively, Xperia X and Xperia X Compact users can manually check for the update by heading to Settings -> System -> Check for Update. Earlier this year, Sony promised that it will update its flagship smartphones with the latest version of Android for at least two years after it is launched.
The update will bring features such as the popular Picture-in-Picture mode, which allows you to watch a video and use another app at the same time. Android Oreo will also bring access to features such as Notification Dots, Notification Channels, Android Instant Apps, and Autofill for passwords. Users will also get the Oreo feature that limits the smartphone s background activity for the least used apps. Android Oreo will also optimize the smartphone to save battery.
