Sony has sent out media invites for an October 21 event in Delhi where the company is expected to launch its new Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium smartphones, which were unveiled at the recently held IFA 2015 in Berlin. The invite doesn t say much about the event, it just says Block your date . On the top left, there is a Sony logo and an Xperia logo at the bottom right. The new Xperia Z5 family shares the same hardware, with the only difference being the screen size, resolution and battery capacity. The Xperia Z5 sports a 5.2-inch full HD (1080) display with pixel density of 428pp. The Xperia Z5 Compact has a 4.6-inch HD (720p) display with pixel density of 323ppi, whereas the Xperia Z5 has a 5.5-inch 4K display running at a resolution of 2160x3840pixels with a whopping pixel density of 806ppi.
Sony also claims that the Xperia Z5 Premium is the first smartphone with 4K display. In terms of battery capacity, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium feature 2,500mAh, 2,700mAh and 3,430mAh batteries respectively. According to Sony, the battery is good enough to last for two days on Stamina Mode.All smartphones support Qualcomm s Quick Charge 2.0 feature that can charge the battery from zero to 60 percent in 30 minutes. Another notable different is the premium mirror glass finish at back of the Xperia Z5 Premium.
Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium specifications and features: These smartphones are powered by Qualcomm s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM. They come with 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 200GB using a microSD card.
On the camera front, the all smartphones feature a 23-megapixel rear camera with hybrid auto-focus (0.03 seconds), LED flash and has 4K video recording capabilities. On the front, you get a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.
The smartphone also features an FM Radio, IP65 / IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC. On the software front, these smartphones run on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box, and all smartphones are also expected to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the coming months.
