Citing sources within the company, Sony s forthcoming tablet will have a 12.9-inch display with a resolution of 3840×2400 pixels (meaning that’s a huge 16:10 4K ultra high definition display). It is said to have a Qualcomm chipset, however we do not know of the exact configurations there. The tablet is also said to be just 8.6mm thick, and the report further states that the supply chain has already finished preparing related components for the device’s upcoming mass production. Not surprisingly, the tablet is expected to target mainly the high-end segment and its price may exceed $1,000 (Rs 63,600 approximately). Sony has not officially confirmed any of this, so we do not know the full specifications of the tablet yet. The sources also state that many companies are going to launch large screen tablets next year. They anticipate that this influx, will hit the demand for notebooks.
Apple, as mentioned above, is also rumored to be working on a 12.9-inch ‘iPad Pro’, which is scheduled to release in the second half of 2015. The bigger iPad is expected to boast a display with high pixel density nearing ultra high-definition and could also borrow design elements from the current iPad Air. The company will also be introducing a split-screen feature on iOS 8, specially made for iPad users.
