The report cites a recognized XDA-Developer user who s tweeted about this likely change in the nomenclature. In addition to the above, Chinese website ePrice has posted a couple of press photos of the Xperia Z1. The photos unfortunately are low in resolution, but show the phone in black, purple and white color variant and also show the glass back, which is similar to the Xperia Z.
To recap on what we know so far, the phone s USP is its 20.1-megapixel camera with BIONZ image processing engine, which reportedly has the capability to shoot 4k video that no smartphone currently has.
Additionally, the device is expected to feature a 5-inch display, 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and is also expected to be waterproof and dustproof.
