Announced at MWC, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua has finally been launched in India. The smartphone is priced at Rs 24,990, and will be available in black, white and coral color variants at major retail outlets starting today. The big USP highlighted by the company is its waterproof abilities. It has an IP65 and IP68 certification for dust and waterproofing , which allows it to be submerged in 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes without taking any damage. What’s interesting is that it does not have rubber caps on its USB port to protect the internal hardware from water – just like the Xperia Z4. Coming to the specifications, the Xperia M4 Aqua features a 5-inch 720p HD display, which is protected by an IPS screen and tempered glass. It is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core chipset paired with 2GB of RAM. It offers 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a miscroSD card. With respect to camera, the Xperia M4 Aqua sports a 13-megapixel Sony sensor, and a 5-megapixel front snapper. It comes with Sony’s slew of editing tools. Another high-point, is that the mid-range handset runs on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box, and also packs a 2,400mAh battery. Connectivity wise, the handset supports LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The handset comes with decent spec offerings, and is a good addition with its waterproof capabilities to the already competitive market for affordable smartphones.
