Last year Sony failed to set the world alight with its Tablet S and Tablet P Android offerings. Well, it sure looks like Sony is going to give the tablet market a second go with a vengeance as a Sony Xperia tablet has been leaked. From the looks of it, the device retains the magazine style industrial design of the Tablet S, albeit in perhaps a more refined and slimmer form, apart from a number of generational hardware improvements. It has been stated it will be only 8.8mm thin and will be 40 percent lighter than the Tablet S as reported by MobiFlip. Also Read - Uber launches robot-assisted food delivery service in two US cities
The hardware specs seem to be pretty standard for an Android tablet of its class as it will reportedly feature a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core chip, Android 4.0 or later, three memory options (16GB, 32GB and 64GB), 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, and a 6,000 mAh battery. Interestingly, the leak has also revealed a keyboard accessory for the device that seems like a hybrid of the Microsoft Touch Cover for the Surface tablet and the Smart Cover for the iPad.
The Xperia tablet is claimed to be launched at $449.99 for the 16GB model, $549.99 for the 32GB and $649.99 for the 64GB model. This means Sony plans on undercutting the iPad by around $50, which might not be enough considering the premium commanded by Apple products.
The pricing for the accessories has also been revealed that includes a basic cover for $59.99, a premium cover for $79.99, a cradle for $39.99, a stand for $24.99 and a dock speaker for $119.99. According to the report, Sony is targeting a Q3 launch like the Tablet S and Tablet P.
