IFA 2016 in Berlin is just around the corner, and at least one smartphone brand is abuzz with activity. Sony, which has been relatively quiet this year, is widely expected to launch two new smartphones at the event. Reports claim that the smartphones in question are the Xperia XR and the Xperia X Compact. Of the two, the Compact version has been spotted on a benchmarking website, which reveals the 4.6-inch display, as well as some other specifications and features of the upcoming smartphone. As per the listing on GFXBench, the Sony Xperia X Compact will sport a 4.6-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and is likely to be powered by a 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. Also on offer will be a 64GB internal storage, however there is no mention of microSD card slot at the moment. The smartphone is also expected to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera that can capture 4K video, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and it will run on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out-of-the-box. That said, the smartphone could be upgraded to Android Nougat soon as well. There is currently no word on the pricing details of the phone.
Sony is not only launching the X Compact but it is also said to launch its flagship device Xperia XR (codenamed F8331). From what we know so far from the leaks, the Xperia XR will ditch the sharp edges in favor of curves. The leaked renders also show speaker grille up front, power button and fingerprint scanner on the side, and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. It is said to come with dimensions of 146.4 71.9 8.1mm.

If rumors and leaks are to be believed, Sony Xperia XR is expected to feature a 5.1-inch full HD (1080p) display. It will be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. Also on offer will be a 32GB of internal storage.
On the camera front, the smartphone will come with a 21-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front camera. Rumors in the past also suggest that the rear camera will sport dual-LED flash. The Xperia XR will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
Earlier this year, Sony announced the retiring of its iconic Xperia Z line up and introduced the Xperia X series featuring Sony Xperia X and Xperia XA smartphones. While the Xperia X and XA were launched in India in May this year, the company launched its Xperia XA Ultra in the country last month.
